Writes Vox Day:
Now, it is true that some individuals are very liberal in their youth and become more conservative as they get older. But if one examines the "conservative" media, one notices a surprising number of individuals who were liberals and claim to be conservatives now, but still continue to advocate the same powerful and intrusive central government that they advocated in their liberal youth. And like young cuckoos and cowbirds, these parasites attempt to push the genuine intellectual heirs out of the nest, hence National Review founder William F. Buckley's attacks on Murray Rothbard and Joe Sobran, FrontPage's Ben Johnson's call for "modern conservatives" to repudiate Paul Craig Roberts, National Review's David Frum's call for "a conservatism of the future" to turn its back on Patrick Buchanan, Robert Novak, Llewellyn Rockwell, Samuel Francis, Thomas Fleming, Scott McConnell, Justin Raimondo, Joe Sobran, Charley Reese, Jude Wanniski, Eric Margolis and Taki Theodoracopulos.
And just last week, National Review's Kathryn Lopez demanded "Ron Paul, Go Home" in bold-face type, which is a very strange thing for a supposed conservative to say about the man who is indisputably the only genuinely conservative Republican candidate for president.
This is not conservative behavior; it is the language and the controlling tactics of the left. These supposedly "conservative" individuals are not advocating anything that is even remotely recognizable as historical conservatism, but, nevertheless, claim that advocating big government policies, strong government actions, heroic government measures and imperialist government interventions are a new, shiny and better conservatism for the future. If this all sounds very familiar, it should, because it is nothing less than Clinton conservatism.
It is not the real conservatives, but the word thieves who need to go home; go home to the statist, authoritarian, big-government left where they rightly and truly belong.

Hello there!

FreeWest Blog - Around the country almost every precinct with electronic voting also offers a way to vote with a paper ballot. Insist on the paper voting option.
In the past few weeks, there has been a great deal of discussion regarding vote fraud - especially from the Ron Paul camp. I personally believe that there is a high probability that the voting machines are cheating voters out of a fair election.
In order to keep a closer eye on the situation, I signed up as a Poll Manager.
I learned that ANYONE can refuse to use the electronic voting machines, and that they will be allowed to vote using a paper ballot.
The idea occurred to me that it would be a good idea to use the "Ron Paul Network" to get this information out quickly.
I imagined a few interesting things that might happen.
Every voter who votes for Ron Paul should INSIST on a paper ballot.
Those votes would NOT be tallied by the close of the polls and would therefore come in many hours after the polls have closed.
This simple tactic would not only get a great deal of local publicity, it would also get national attention. As the word spreads, the public could nullify the "Diebold factor" without waiting until the next election cycle.
This would also assure that there was a clear paper trail that could tracked. It would be very unlikely that they would lose the evidence. In a recount situation it would be harder to falsify fraudulent voting as well.
This is a simple, cost free solution to the vote fraud concern.
By the next voting cycle, If the media reports on this, voters for all candidates might adopt this idea and derail the attempt for unscrupulous individuals to steal our elections by tampering with the Diebold machines.
So it's simple, If you want your vote to count, avoid the electronic machines and ask for a paper ballot.

Is this a realistic solution?
Who would the people voting at primaries ask for---which official do they need to contact to say that they want to use paper ballots? How early; One day or two days before, a week before?
Which official would be relied upon to make the arrangements.
Organisationally feasible?
As things stand, if it works than it should be tried, otherwise with the Diebold machine, I can't see Ron Paul winning. Which is a shame given the unofficial huge mandate he has already received, in addition to the huge funds. I personally don't think he should officially state that all his supporters go for this, as it is tantamount to saying the electoral system is fraudulent-----which no mainstream candidate aspiring to be President, can say, and win. He has to 'play the game'. But there is nothing wrong with unofficial efforts to get his organisation and campaign staff to go for this alternative strategy.
Regards.
PS. I assume you have already watched 'Hacking Democracy' on Youtube, or HBO. You should as it gives a whole new perspective to things.

Sorry, off topic, but you should add 'Richard Viguerie', a giant father of conservatism, to your official endorsements for Ron Paul.

David,
I'm about to download Ron Paul: A Man for All Seasons to distribute (along with other campaign literature, voter registrations, etc.).
Will you be editing the DVD at any point, with clips from recent debates and interviews (especially wrt the economy)? If so, I'll wait.
And thank you so much for creating the best RP DVD on the internets.

The Onion
January 21, 2008 | Issue 44•03
The school-educated busy-bodies who manage my media properties inform me that it is almost time to appoint a new President. I almost cannot believe it is time for the suet-brained populace of this flagging Republic to be once again herded into the voting-booths to allegedly choose precisely which bloody-handed butcher will crack their bones and suck the marrow over the next few years. Futility, I say, rank and base futility! Does the grist choose the mill, the rabbit the hawk, the innocent 12-year-old Atlantic City orphan girl the lusty mob of beefy, drunk, vacationing coal-oil sales-men? They do not, and neither do the Citizens choose their Leaders. However, if The Onion news-paper can further the illusion that an individual vote has more potential to change the world than a lamb's last bubbling bleat in a crowded slaughter-house—and furthermore, if we may turn a hand-some profit by doing so—than let The Onion be the Judas goat to the milling herd of democratic cattle!
I am told that our new War of the White House section will contain the vetted and censored life stories of each candidate; white-washed and simplified versions of their heinous plans to drain the life and wealth of each and every tax-payer; a schedule denoting the appearances of every aspirant, so that one may go and be covered in unspeakable fulminating lies in person instead of hearing them over the crystal-set. I should God damned well hope that there will also be prettily-colored pictures, or else the average American citizen will not be able to keep his eye on it for more than a few heart-beats, and it would be better yet if there were accompanying photos of ample heaving bosoms. Sadly, the man in the street becomes affronted whenever he feels his supposed dignity is being besmirched. Why is this? The man in the street is, for all his puffery, standing there in the God damned street!
In any case, there will also be a section on how our Democracy works, despite even the simplest boor suspecting in his secret heart of hearts that it is a sham. Which it is. I have not voted since becoming a wealthy industrialist, having figured out some time ago that it is much wiser to employ the organ grinder than vote for the monkey. Still, I hope this special section is of some amusement to all. I understand that one of the candidates is campaigning in a dress this year, and yet another in a minstrel's blackface, which I must say was unexpected; but as long as there are no Catholics on the ballot, I see no reason to summon the marksmen.
Now get back to work!
Have you stopped blogging?
Dave, not sure if you get these posts in your email like I do. But wanted to send you a small note.
